Geez Daneel! First, you had two of the nicest kilts I've ever seen, and then you go and add that killer tweed kilt! Are you trying to kill me with jealousy? I'm a sucker for tweed anyway, but I really like the tweed kilts.
Glad to hear that you had such a great trip to Edinburgh.

Welcome back Daneel, glad you had a great time, I'll be interested to know how you get on back home with the new kilt.
I guess being Irish you are no stranger to plain kilts.

For Cajunscot?
Hi!
Am I right if I guess that the tartan you have behind your back in the picture is the European Union tartan, it looks very similar.
Greetings

I have just returned home from Edinburgh, Ingemar and, yes, the grand opening of Howie's "21st Century Kilts" showroom WAS an event to remember. I'll post a full report in the next 24 hours or so.
I met a number of celebrities, was asked for my autograph, posed for several photos and spent twenty minutes (at least) in conversation with a TV star known to many here. When I mention his name, Graham will turn green, I'm pretty sure. (But he'll have to wait for my report to find out who it was!!!!!!!! )

Today is the first day that I have NOT worn my TFCK since I bought it . Thats 10 days in a row. That my best effort so far.Today I had dirty work to do so the kilt stayed hanging up. The only way acording to Howie is to wear a TFCK is with the socks rumpled, however he has been wearing them that way for 4 and a half years. He might not feel the cold but I did and so I wear the socks up outside and rumpled indoors, except when I going into a social situation then I adopt the most casual look possible. Its that awfull desire at 50 to look look a 20 something.
HAPPY KILTING

Go for it Daneel!!
I'm 60 and it works for me. Fashion is what we claim for ourselves!! Let the kidlets wear pants!

Heck Daneel, I'll be 69 this year, I am 'heavily into' TFCKs (with 13 carrying that label) and I invariably wear them with my hose down to the top of my boots - no matter what the temperature!
My only concession to age is that I fold/roll them down rather than just pushing them!!

I love my TFCK kilts because they do afford a different style of dress. With my 16 oz black 6 yarder I like to wear flannel shirts or other patterns that would obviously fight with a tartan type kilt. Looks great with hiking boots and socks any way you like 'em.
Other purchases from Geoffrey/TFCK included an 8 yard gent's kilt in the Dark Island tartan, a handsome GT doublet, and more recently I ordered a 7 yard casual in their AR1 16 0z Thistle Dubh tartan that should be here in 4-5 weeks.
If you are in the US, you should be aware that Geoffrey/TFCK has a monthly shipping scheme where they send out a bulk shipment during the second week of any given month. If this method is used, the cost includes shipping and ALL duty charges. The cost of a 16 oz six yard casual tartan kilt [their range]runs about $350. A 12 oz kilt around $300. If you are interested in the solid casuals, those run a little more: around $500-$550 for a heavy weight kilt in black wool if I recall correctly. [Geoffrey makes the tartan whilst TFCK does the non tartan, and the pricing is different.]
The weather here has been too cool [-18C this week]for anything but my flannel lined jeans, so I EAGERLY await the arrival of spring, or at least an uncharcteristically warm day. When the thermometer hits 50F/10C, I toss the pants aside.
One thing I have noticed about wearing a kilt all summer and through the fall is that without the chafing of trousers my legs became much hairier! That was a startling discovery .

Mychael, Before starting to wear kilts I wore shorts from Easter to late fall and thinking back I think you are right, legs do get seem to grow more and thicker hair. I think I will photograph my legs this Easter and then later in the year and see if there really is a difference.
HAPPY KILTING
