    Alaskan,

TFCK would not fit your definition of a kilt, even though they are made in Scotland by a branch of a traditional kiltmaker. Here is the link to their site.

So have you changed your mind?

Blimey, what a great response. I like it here.

Alan/Rhino - It's going to be a difficult choice. I liked the material for the TFCK but I don't know if South Tyneside could handle it. I wonder whether I would have the bottle to wear it locally. The Scottish Rugby Union tartan caught my eye and I loved it instantly. Can only afford the one.

Rhino - It's a very subtle purple with a broad pattern - green surround. I've seen it in the 'flesh', and made up into a kilt....and tried it on and I look, well, fantastic actually!!! 8)

Ham - Remember the fuss underneath the Scott monument and my desire to leave the area quickly! I can only take so much. I like the attention if someone talks to me. It's when they treat you like a novelty act I'm not so keen. The foreign tourists sometimes plonk themselves in front of you and take your pic. without a buy or leave. I find that very rude.

That leather shirt BTW was about £160. I would have to drink a half litre of Bushmills before having the courage to buy it. I REALLY liked it. I can hear my wallet screaming in terror as I type.

The kilt I'm considering is 6 yards and the material is a special wool/cashmere blend. It will also be machine made. Does this sound right to you? The guy was referring to it as a TFCK. Either way, I think it will make up into very nice kilt. I don't think I NEED to see Howie, do I? It would be nice to meet him sometime though.

Graham - You WILL one day walk the streets of Edinburgh. It would be a pleasure to meet and show you round. I saw a holiday programme on Tasmania recently. You live in a very beautiful part of the world. It seemed so green.

Chris - Rivalry? Not at all. I just liked the tartan when I saw it. I only found out later what it was. I think Robs found a link for you to view. Anyway, neither Wales, England nor Scotland have anything to crow about with the Rugby at the moment. My french colleague at work will be 'crowing' with delight at their victory in the 6 Nations.

Well, I think that covers everyone. Cheers

    Al

Yes I believe I will and the pleasure will be mine to walk the city with you.

This forum is great for getting to each other and the different places we live. Tassie IS green, we get a fair bit of rain (not as much as Scotland and Ireland).
    Life is good.
