I've tried the blue, and it was really good. I just savored the flavor and enjoyed that fact that I wasn't paying for it.
Personally, for that price, I'd take a good single malt since there are so many.

Never have had "the Blue" & probably never will unless, like you, it's a gift.
There's other things I'd want for the last thing I'd ever buy - cuz if I ever spent that much on a bottle of whisky, my wife would KILL me!!!

I had my first taste of the stuff last weekend and I love it. It's a blend, but it's all malt - no other grain alcohol mixed in. It's 24 years old. My, it's tasty.
It's pricey stuff and I won't be drinking it often. I was given a bottle as a thank-you gift. A generous gift it is!
wee correction Bob...
JW Blue is a very guid blend- but it IS a blend...
there is grain alcohol in it....
JW Green is the yin they mak that is a' malt (vatted malt- no single malt)
Blue contains some very auld an guid malts... shame they mix them wi' grain....
some malts included arr- Talisker, Cragganmore, Linkwood, Caol Ila...
fur the price- yur better aff buyin a bottle o' each o' the malts that went in it....

Believe it or not, there are some folks out there (sick, sad folks) that prefer a blended to a single malt. Now, I was never quite one of those people back in the days when I could drink, but I did have a favorite blend, and it's actually one of the least expensive in the states- Clan MacGregor. I remember one day about five years ago somebody trying to get me to buy a bottle of Dewar's-I rounded on them and told them that if I was going to spend that much on a bottle it would damn well be a single malt. (At the liquor store we were at, a bottle of Dewar's was almost as much as a young Laphroaig!! And the Laph was almost untouched and had dust on it, while the Dewars was clean and sparkly like it had just been put out that day. Sick, sad world....)

Granted, I do enjoy my single malt....but then again, I've never met a scotch I didn't like! No need to justify drinking a blend. If you enjoy, that's all that matters.

I agree. My collection is 95% single malts, but there are many times when I prefer a blend.
