Nice piccies Dee!
I saw the ceremony on TV but they didn't cover much of the parade. BBC Parliament then showed First Minister's question time and I saw Robertson's MSP, Elaine Murray on it.
Glad you saw the Queen of Scotland!

Quite the touristic coup, Dee. A great parade and HRH. A heckuva morning. You can come home now.

The pipers are wearing the new Royal Regiment of Scotland's badge, it appears, and the "guards" in question were the Scots Guards.

Opening of the Scotish Parliament

After breakfast this morning we decided to wander in the direction of Holyrood since there were parades, bands etc planned for the day. Well we got to the Royal Mile and were just about to turn towards Holyrood and I heard a pipe band coming down the hill.
It just so happened they were coming from the Castle as part of the opening ceremonies. If you'll look at the place of honor in the car below you'll see the Crown of Scotland on it's way to Holyrood. (We saw this with the other Honours at the Castle yesterday.)
We thought this was a rather optimistic start to our day.
Glad you enoyed yourself, I watched it on TV and then wished I was there as I am only just over an hour's drive from the capital

At least they did the opening right, Pity we can't say the same about the building!
