My latest "invention" (really, just tried it yesterday) for heaviest weight kilts is to use one of those wide extending spring loaded skirt hangers (|-------------| with springs for compression) to hold a kilt flat and then hang it from a hanger by the two hanging-straps. Seems to do a good job (this moment) supporting a good 2 kg of regimental wool. Since the kilt is in "compression" it seems, it can be packed better into a tight closet---- why is it that no matter how large a closet one has (or how many) they always end up over stuffed? This concept (if it proves the test) could be extended to a space saving (but closet pole pending) variation as per trousers.
