Just found this. It's great :mrgreen: Since the links are soldered shut, there would probably be much less wear on the kilt fabric than with usual curb chain sporrans.

Those are quite interesting.

There was a thread a while back where chain wear was discussed in great detail. The basic consensus was that chain in any condition will wear more quickly than leather. I believe the key was that even welded links apply greater pressure to the higher ridges of the link but a leather strap distributes the pressure and friction over a smooth even surface.

I have been wondering about a strap which has a leather base strap and a length of chain surface applied as a decorative feature.

I tend to agree with that Raphael.

It does look interesting though, the practicality seems a bit lacking.

I think it looks wicked. But yeah those linkages do have a certain medieval-torture-hour-vibe. Maybe a leather inner would improve things, esp to hide the mobile phone you've "accidentally" bought to the faire (in case mum calls)...

thats exactly what i was thinking but couldnt figure out how to put into words without violating the familiy friendly focus of the forum....

Suffice it to say that i have seen something very similar to this in situations best left unsaid at this juncture...
