    Sport in the Highlands

    Serendipity is the word...

I went to my shelves looking for a particular book, and stumbled across this that I had forgotten all about. As I can't remember the last time I read it through, it was like seeing it for the first time. A nice surprise...

Published for the sportsman going to the Highlands for the 1927 season, it sheds a light on the Downton Abbey era that is now lost. Admittedly, some of the mores of a century ago might not sit comfortably with our modern, delicate senses, but it gives an image of the sporting life our grandparents would have known. The illustrations make it seem idyllic.

Yes there are differences between then and now and that is for sure, but I think whilst equipment has improved and modern sensibilities have changed attitudes somewhat, the basics are much the same.
