    On Her Majesty's Secret Service

I'm a Bond fan from way back, but I'd never seen "On Her Majesty's Secret Service."

I'd always assumed that it must have been awful since George Lazenby didn't return to play Bond in future films. I was wrong.

George Lazenby does a credible job of playing superspy James Bond. He's got the look, the style, and that casual arrogance that marks the James Bond character. I wonder what happened that this was his first and last appearance in the role. He was very good and could only have gotten better.

Anyway, he spends a very good chunk of the film in a formal kilt outfit. He looks quite striking.

The kilt comes off a few scenes later when Bond slips into the suite of a woman who wrote her room number on his thigh with lipstick while they were seated at dinner previously.

Telly Savalas plays Ernst Blofeld in this one. The fake accent makes him sound like a New York cabbie with a bad headcold. I keep expecting him to say, "Who loves ya, baby?" (TV show, "Kojak")

Anyway, I'm going back to watch the rest of the movie. It's much better than I expected and seeing James Bond lurking around in a kilt is a treat.

I initially thought the same thing about that Bond movie, and didn't watch it until earlier this summer. I was actually fairly surprised at how good the film was. Definitely better than the last few new ones. :P

I kept thinking while watching the film that Hamish would be proud, because Bond wears black kilt hose, and not white ones. You also have to admire the scene where he loosens the kilt straps, lets it fall to the floor, and the woman says, "Oooh! So it is true!"

What are you talking about, that last one " Halle Berry in Orange Bikini" was the best bonf flick yet. Can't understand why is was only five minutes long though

I liked On Her Majesty's secret service, but nothing will ever beat Connery's bond. Speaking of Connery, I understood that the only reason Lazenby was a one shot deal was that Sean Connery had been coaxed back for 1973's Live and Let Die. The only reason Lazenby had gotten a shot in the first place was due to contract breakdowns with Sean Connery prior to Her Majesty's Secret Service.

    Lazenby...

Richard, can you post a piccie of Lazenby with the "full rig", so we can see those black hose? (if possible)

"From Russia with Love" is still my favourite Bond flick, although "Casino Royale" is fun too (with David Niven).

    Cheers,

    T.
