    A decision has been made...

    Hi Guys and Girls,

A decision has been made on my kilted future, and unfortunately it didn't turn out as I had hoped. As of yesterday I am giving up on kilts all together. Before any of you go flying off the handle please let me explain.

My wife is very opposed to kilts, she said they look like Catholic school girls. I don't agree, and I know all of you don't agree either. But the fact is that causing a rift in a 25 year marriage isn't worth wearing a kilt. I will never give up my desire for kilts, I just have to admire them from a distance now, and hope that possibly someday she might change her mind. I hope those of you in a relationship will understand and support my decision.

I'm going to miss the camaraderie of this group, I know your are a great bunch of guys and gals. The support and encouragement you show each other could be a model for many aspects of life.

To Hank, thanks for providing this forum and the friendships that are a result.
To all the kilt makers, keep producing the quality products that you have such a passion for.
To Jimmy, good luck with Barley Juice, and thanks for sharing your expertise with everyone.
To Hamish, thanks for being the great ambassador of the kilt that you are.
To Todd and Matt, thanks for bringing a wealth of knowledge to the forum and being so well spoken and considerate of everyone.
To Rufus, Good luck in your studies and future career.
To Graham, may God bless you and your family as you serve Him.

I'm sorry I can't mention everybody, but you all know who you are. Thanks to everyone.

OK, now to the next item. I have two kilts that are up for grabs.
I have a Sport Kilt in the St. Paddy tartan, size large. Plus an extra patch and two stickers.
I also have a Get Shirty kilt in the Campbell tartan, size 38. It 100% acrylic.

If anyone would be interested in these kilts, all I'm asking is 10-15 bucks for shipping and they can be yours. They'll be good for lounging around the house, or any place you wouldn't take you expensive kilts.

I'll be checking the board for a few more days. Thanks again for your friendships.

    Dana,

I think you have made a wise choice not to jeopadize your relationship.

    Bonne chance!

    Greetings Dana,
We have not communicated in the past, but I want you to know that my heart goes out to you. You are doing the right thing. A marriage relationship is Very precious, and must be guarded at all cost. You will receive much more blessing from your beloved than from wearing a piece of cloth around your hips. Tha fact is that most of the things we do are moderated by how we feel others will percieve us. That is OK.
Spend the time you used to spend at Xmarks on your beloved and watch your relationship blossom. May God bless you in this correct decision.

    Cheers
    Rick

Ouch! I am sorry to hear that. But do you have to sell your kilts because the objection of your wife? If it is a requirement to sell them in order to stay in relationship, why not just put them aside and hope for a miracle?

    Hi Raphael,

She did not say I had to sell the kilts, but having them around will only cause further problems. I think it's best just to have them gone. Btw, they're not for sale, I'm giving them away. All I'm asking is a little help with the postage.

    Dana,

I understand your problem and respect your decision.

I'm facing similar problems myself, and am about to give up as well.

    Good Luck and God Bless.

Dana, I know that I'm new here but that doesnt mean that I haven't read and enjoyed the various discussions that you and all the regulars have gotten into in the past.
If it's a choice between your wife of 25 years and a kilt then you already know the correct choice. Be happy and Good Luck in the future, and possibly she'll warm up to the idea and she'll suprise you with a brand new 8 yard tartan kilt on your birthday or Christmas or something.
I hope I havent said anything to upset or agravate an already tender situation, but instead have said something that will uplift and help with the decision youve made.
Take care and God Bless you ,best wishes, Angus.

    Dana...

    Dana,

I understand completely the decision you have made, and I salute you for it. You are the epitome of a gentleman.

I hope you will still come to St. Charles so we can meet "in person"!

    Cheers,

    Todd
