Shake up at the UKHQ
Bill posted this message @ Tom's Cafe this afternoon"
Well, it's been quite a ride, but like all rides, they do come to an end.
After 4 years at Utilikilts, Wild Bill is calling it quits. Lotsa changes have gone on here in the last couple of months, but effective soon.
For instance, I am leaving on the 21st.
Danielle has already left as of a couple weeks ago.
Megan will be leaving in May.
I am not at liberty to discuss all that has gone on, but suffice it to say that Steven will be still here carrying on as will the rest of the staff.
I will miss being a part of the MIS movement in a real-time mode. I won't miss the stress and the lunacy faced here on a daily basis.
Hang in there everyone!
Wild Bil
What does that mean for the future of Utilikilts?

Raph, I can only guess, but I suspect they grew a bit too fast and started sliding into a corporate mentality. I hope they get it together and don't fall into that trap.

It is typical corporate growing pains. And as Bubba said they grew rather fast, so quickly developed a corporate mentality, while not holding true to the main vision. I wish everryone well, whether they go or stay.

That is a great shame. Thay made a 'good' couple. Also, Megan told me, some months ago, that they would both come up to Vancouver during The Gathering if I was unable to get down to see them in Seattle. I imagine that will not now happen.

Did I just read "UtiliKilts" and "corporate" in the same sentence?
All companies go through changes. Sometimes, unfortunately, the worst people stay and the real pioneers leave. That just happens. I would NOT be surprised to see them "resurface" in the VERY NEAR FUTURE with another venture.
You just don't know what CAN happen.

I sure hope they don't get swallowed up by their own corporate mass/fears. They've really gottena lot of word out, and a lot of guys in kilts! and I still would like to get one eventually.

From the UK newsletter:
Staff Changes
Danielle has conscientiously decided to leave Utilikilts, and is spending more of her precious time with her lovely family (the baby Francesca & her honey Kristen). We already miss Danielle, and wish for Diggity D the best of luck. Gustav will be moving to the coast in Oregon the second or third week in April to help his mother run her family business and focus on his creating more art. Gustav will continuing to facilitate training at events, develope artwork, communicating via email, and attend many Utilikilt events as a remote Crew Leader. You may reach the Gustav at www.gustavsculptor.com and by email at gustavmac@mac.com
To assist in the evolution of the events program, Utilikilts has been blessed to have the help of the multi-talented CJ, who is going helping the events program with event registration, research and event marketing ideas.
On a separate note, Utilikilts is seeking submissions of photographs, artwork, illustrations, and ideas for posters to post for events we are vending at. If you are interested in submitting pictures, illustrating artwork, or by submitting conceptual work or design ideas, contact nate@utilikilts.com for more information.
If you know of a festival, anywhere, anytime, that we should be vending at…you got it…

Thank you,
You all rock!
Enjoy your freedom.

They seemed awfully top heavy anyway. Maybe they can use the liberated financial resources from the departed folks to hire more people in the production line. Order fulfillment being what it is, they are losing money by having such a long queue.
