I read the whole thing. They are men's jeans from the 1940's-50's. They are supposed to be vintage, and I guess thats why they are so expensive.

Well, except for a number of "chaps" on the TOM'S CAFE site. ;) Sorry, I'll shut up now.

Great, so now there are Antique Jeans? I thought that old clothes went out of style and couldn't be given away.

Well, considering how much some people like retro-look clothes, I suppose it's a matter of prestige for some people to have actual clothes from the period. Instead of old, they call them vintage. Another instance of brilliant marketing to the gullible. I don't have anything against people buying these things - to each his own. However, I wouldn't buy something just because it was old. It would have have to either be better quality or have some actual historical significance. For instance, some antique furniture is sturdier than the modern particle-board junk.

Actually, vintage can jsut mean used, not necessarily old. People often like "vintage" clothing over thrift shops because it doesn't have the negative connotation that goes along with it (ie: lack of money) and therefore "vintage shops can charge much more because they're not used, they're "vintage". Sorry, it's all the rage for folks my age right now, I find it a bit of a hash.

Good gracious! I shoped thrift store in the early eighties to get the Mtv look of all my favorite dance bands. It was cheap! I still have a man's suit jacket that was probably from the 40's bought in the eighties at a thrift store and my daughter keeps trying to take it from me now. It's suit weight wool and was made very well even though it's lining is now going thread bare... of course that is part of it's charm. I rolled the sleeves up to expose the lining. Darn now I feel old....
That's okay, I've seen some of you silver headed darlings (like my sweet hubby). I'm not the oldest.
