    A report on my trip

After putting 4000.2 miles under me in a new style VW bug I have finally arrived home late Sat. night, so I thought I had better post on the results of my kilted trip.
As I visited with Jeff at PK, Dr. Barb in upstate NY, Rocky and Kelly at USA Kilts and met Robert from R-Kilts I thought it best to post this here instead of in each individual section.

The real reason of the trip was to deliver my Mom-in-law' car to Philly, but I thought if I stopped in and visited with some kiltmakers I could write off some of the trip as business. The first official stop was in Pittsburgh to visit with Jeff at Pittsburgh Kilts.

Jeff, I want to thank you and your wife for the warm welcome and hospitality. Your invitation into your home and offer of a place to stay was customer service well beyond the call of duty. I was very impressed with your product and the thought you have put into your work. As I told you, you have no fear that I will steal your two-toned kilt ideas. You do that so well that I wouldn't even try to go there. You are the master at that.
In the short time we had, I think we both learned some things. I was very impressed by what you are able to accomplish in the space you have and within the budget you have set for yourself. You are the proof that a business can succeed if the owner truly believes in what they are doing. I understand you jumped right on Jewddah's kilt and will be shipping it this week. It will be good to have a PK in Victoria so more can see the great work you do.

Dr. Barb; spending an afternoon sitting your deck and talking with a true master kiltmaker was a highlight of my trip. The samples of your work you showed me were a true inspiration. I've seen a lot of traditional, hand-sewn kilts. Never before had I seen the work of a true master. I am ripping out every stitch I have done for Barbs Posse and starting over.
I am also more determined to document my own work for our project.

To Rocky and Kelly, you guys are the greatest. Kelly is the most fun I've ever had with a girl and still kept my kilt on.
Rocky, the kilt you made for me is awsome. I wore it on the plane home and gave out almost all of the USAKilt business cards I had with me. (Send more)
I am now a true believer in what someone can do with PV and real skill.
The kilt night you planned for my visit was a treat. To finally meet some of the Xmarks guys and put faces to the names was super. I'm sorry I couldn't stay for the Sat. night festivities. My back was killing me and I had been away from the shop for far too long. (this mornings xrays show two blown discs).
To go that far out of your way to host my visit, to make the visit that enjoyable, and then to present me with that beautiful kilt, I can never repay that.
What more can I say but that I have an order from my wife Bobbie for a USAKilt waiting for the morning mail. And I hope that if you two ever make it out here I can host you in equal style.

Robert, your Saffron leather R-Kilt was awsome. When you stepped out of the car after 9 hours and the pleats fell into place, well, I now know why people swear by your leather kilts. The sheer amount of leather on that kilt was mind blowing. The straps, the buckles, the pockets, the sporran, WOW.

I'm now home. Bobbie did a great job of holding the shop together. The order board is overflowing. The word from my web guy is that the new site with the 1" pleat Casual Kilt will be on-line in two weeks.
I guess I'll sleep next year because after seeing what others out there are doing I think I have my work cut out for me just to keep up.

I know your back was hurting... I hope that you recover quickly and understand why you wanted to leave a day early. We won't hold it against you THIS time. Let me know when you want to come back down... we're starting to plan a "Kilted Bar-B-Que" for sometime towards the end of the summer. Come down and bring the woman!

BTW... we checked Brit's staff and around the floor by the stage and can't find your XMARKS Kilt Pin. Sorry buddy...

What a great report (apart from the back pain), so good to read. It makes me wish I was able to visit Rocky, Rob and Kelly too.
Rocky and Kelly's skill with PV I know well, but Rob's leather kilt, well that is a treat yet in store for me.

Sorry to tell you Rocky, but the only reason I wore your kilt on the plane....You don't think I wanted to rumple one of mine in those seats do you?
