Hey Marines, How About a K Bar Skean Dhu?

My kiltmaker Kathy Lare of Kathy's Kilts was at the Flagstaff Highland games doing a land office business Saturday. While waiting to talk to her about the X Marks tartan I got to noticing some Skean Dhus she offers with her accessories.

One of them is a replica K Bar Marine Corps knife!

I've never had an interest in wearing a Skean Dhu in my kilt hose...until I saw that one. Her husband makes them out of replica letter openers. Has the distinctive handle and black blade only the blade is aluminum. Not for real use. But when's the last time you had to pull a Skean Dhu on anyone?

My sense is with that distinctive handle sticking out of your sock no one in the know would mess with a man packing a K Bar Skean Dhu.

Total length is 7 1/2" USMC is stamped on the base of the blade.

Kathy's husband makes a nice leather sheath for the K Bar and stamps the EGA into the sheath. $55.00 from www.Kathyskilts.com

Don't know if I can get a pic of it up, the folks that posted this says they're sold out. Wouldn't be surprised who might have bought them.

There's a fellow in our St. Andrew's Society who is also a Marine that wears the "real McCoy" on his belt with his Leatherneck tartan kilt! :mrgreen:

Myself, I like to hear about retailers coming out with Canadian-style accessories. Isn't the international face of the web something wonderful to get used to?

The international flavor of the web is a spice of life I enjoy. However, it seems to me that people from different parts of the world are basicly more alike than they are different.

Couldn't find anything on the original link but I've been getting more intrigued with this idea since you posted it. found some 9+" minis but that's too big.

So, if the k-bar was merged with the skean dhu, would you want to see the clip point carried over instead of the standard drop-point/dagger blade?

Any idea why they chose to go with the leather washer handle versus anything else?
