    Scotch beef ad

Just spotted on British commercial TV. An ad for scotch beef, featuring a man in t-shirt and kilt walking across the glorious highland countryside back to his home where he tucks into the aforementioned beef.

During the ad, he is compared to his city counterpart, a greasy trousered youth, who collects a nasty looking hot dog on his way homeward.

Now, which of those images appeals most, I wonder?

Wish I hadn't read this at this time of night. Now I'm gonna have to drive 10 miles to this really dirty little handi-mart for their 3 for 99 cent chilli and onion dogs. Man that is living!

Glen, the kilted Scotch beef hunk

From the Quality Meat Scotland website:

A major new marketing campaign spearheaded by Glen, the kilted Scotch beef hunk, was launched today to promote the benefits of choosing Scotch when buying beef.

You can watch Glen in three different television ads here:

I like to think that I, too, am a kilted beef hunk.

I hope this ad is on a long time just like they do with other rubbish they keep showwing. The message is simple.

Maybe I'm being picky, but when I first saw the original post, I had a vision of a fine steak, marinated in a good single malt whiskey. I've always been under the impression that "Scotch" was whiskey and people or things from Scotland were Scot or Scottish? Please correct me if this is wrong.

At the Scottish Tartans Museum in Franklin, NC, the term Scotch-Irish is used. Matt Newsome could elaborate.

In the second ad, we see that he chops wood, cooks and wears a kilt. Seems like the perfect man.
