Some pics from Stirling last weekend
I went to Stirling and the Borders last week for a couple of days and I thought Id share some pics with it being Wallace 700 and all that!!

this huge Statue is near Kelso in the borders, local "patriots" have painted his shield

this is the Wallace monument just outside Stirling

This is me with Wallaces sword now back from its trip to New york

This is me at Stirling Castle, you can see the Wallace monument in the background, Wallace stood on that Hill where the monument stands and looked down on the English army prior to the Battle of Stirling bridge, you can see the River that the bridge crossed on the far right of the pic.
sorry no Kilts I didnt want to get mistaken for a tourist!!! haha only Joking.

Nice shots Daz.
Any chance you'll be in Lanark on the 11th for The Homecoming ceremonies? If so, we need to meet up.

Wonderful pics, Daz. The wife and I were in Scotland back in Feb. 2004 and Stirling made the list of places we'll head back to IMMEDIATELY once we return (hopefully not TOO long from now).
Honestly, I think my wife just wants to stand on the battlements of Stirling Castle and re-perform the taunting scene from Monty Python and the Holy Grail again, but suffice to say Stirling was the highlight of our trip.

Taunting scene is Castle Doune, which is also near Sterling, but not the same as Castle Sterling.
Adam
PS, nice pics, but where's the kilt?

Nice piccies, they bring back fond memories of our trip there last month. I used to think the Wallace Monument was an ugly thing, but having been there, I now think it's really good.
Did you go to the top?
I wish I could have been there this month for the celebrations, the program looked good with exhibitions and music.
I think Battlefield Band were going to be there too!!
and yes, where's the kilt??
Frankly I didn't care less whether I was seen as a "tourist", I know you meant that in jest, and it is true that is how a kilted man is regarded, but heck, if the flippin scots won't wear the kilts, maybe the outsiders need to show them how it's done ;-);-)
thanks for sharing the photos

Great pictures Daz mate. I've got Stirling on my list for my next vist.
Can you tell me a little about the sword in the case. Isn't it a victorian relic ?
Sorry if I'm farting in chuch here. It's just I have an interest in these things.
