New: Two Bearkilts (photos at last!)
At long last, and with apologies to Bear for the unfortunate delay, I have photos of the two Bearkilts I brought home to England from Vancouver last month.
The first is an 8 yard, woollen, 'Classic' cut kilt in the British Columbia tartan. I chose this somewhat bright, but very wearable, tartan in recognition of this being my first visit to the Province of British Columbia - and I am glad I made that decision.
The identity of the second kilt was kept as a total surprise until the moment I received it from Terry, although I believe just about every other kilt wearer in the world knew what it was - at least, that was how it seemed at the time! When the significance of this kilt was explained to me, I was quite deeply touched not only by what it represented, but also by Terry's generosity. This is also a 'Classic' cut BearKilt, but the fabric is black with a red pinstripe.
Terry made just such a kilt for our late friend Tom Manuel (of Tom's Café), to wear at a Dinner on his last visit to New York, a few months before he died. There was just sufficient fabric for two kilts, and the second length he kept to be made up for me - once he had my measurements, which he did when I ordered the one above! This is a wonderful kilt with, for me, a meaningful story behind it. Every time I wear it I remember Tom and think of all the good he did - I am honoured to have it in my 'Kilt Kollection'.
As on previous occasions, I am unable to post the photos here (for what frustrating reason I know not!!), but there are four of them on page 9 of my photo album linked below.
Thank you, Terry, for two first-class kilts.

Very nice, Ham. I too really like that black with red pinstripe kilt. Looks sharp. Is that the X Marks kilt pin?

I remember delivering the pinstripe to Tom. Terry asked me to take it across the border to save time. The kilt looked grand on him as well.
(Hamish not sure if you got my response on your leather kilt. question? please send a yea or nay on that one and I will respond accordingly)
Cheers

I'm getting all misty.
It's a bit odd to see my kilts in Hamish's album. I've been looking at that album (and sending others to it) for a long time. Usually when I wanted to see how to properly dress in a kilt. (I don't always follow what I see but it helps to know how much I will be off.)
The pics look great, Hamish! The first pic with the pinstripe makes you look like you're about to kick some butt.
Now I feel like a real kiltmaker. I'm in Hamish's IMFF album! (Pg 9. Kilts #54 & #55. Pics 97 to 100.)
