Cured.... ?

Hello all... Just thought I'd peek in the door and say hello... haven't posted anything in nearly a month. Actually, I haven't worn any of my kilts for over a month either. Just haven't felt like it. No withdrawal symptoms... nothing. I'm beginning to think perhaps I'm cured. :-?

Anyone else ever experience this??

Do I remember a post by you saying that you often get semi-obsessive over a topic for a while then just drop it? Or was that someone else? I am that way and often get an interest, read everything I can about it then get bored. The major ones are swords and kilts. Swords I started making one but when it came to the sanding and filing I got bored with it, but any time I am around sword my interest is renewed. So I guess I just need to "feed the hunger" so to speak. Hopefully with kilts in the closet I won't have that problem.

Try wearing a kilt for a day and see what happens. If you still think you are cured, I'm a 36 and I might be in the market soon.

What you mention is very natural-for wearing the kilt should be normal activity, not something special. So it is quite right and normal for things to go in and out of favour for a bit.

Think here about a favourite shirt or sweater-for bit worn almost daily: then all of a sudden you realise it's not been worn for a few months-and it comes back into favour.

Now I regret it, but will without doubt tramp on a few toes with what follows: but remember that I'm thinking about the wider male community, and not just those who contribute to this board.

The long term future of the kilt should not be men wearing it day in and day out-rather for them to be sold in shops just like trousers-and according to mood a chap might decide for no special reason to wear a kilt or trousers one day-the reverse the next, and so on-maybe with a few weeks unkilted-or the reverse.

Having worn the kilt for much of my seventy years-I see it as mentioned above; and whilst appreciating the benefits, and people seeing themselves as pioneers who are fighting for their right to wear it. Do not of necessity see people wearing it every day, as other than a bit obsessed: and it is questionable if such people advance the acceptance of the kilt. For instead of being seen as regluar chaps with a good idea worthy of emulation: they are sidetracked as eccentrics, and so have little main stream influence.

I agree one hundred percent with this, James. The kilt should be a perfectly acceptable option...and if you choose not to take that option today or tomorrow, maybe you'll chooose to take it next week.....and no worries.

Just kidding, I don't wear kilts near as much as I'd like to, but I am starting to wear them more than just for games and festivals.

That's my feelings exactly, James. Kilts should be a generally accepted option. If it got to the point of kilts being the only generally accepted option for men, then there would be people like those on this board standing up against "Kilted Tyranny".
