The anti-thesis..

Ok, not exactly kilts in the media, but an argument for clothing equality between the sexes. Has anyone seen the new Old Navy commercial for women's jeans that repeats over and over that they are "Boy cut denim"? Not to start the old skirt vs. kilt debate, but at least when a man wears a kilt he claims it as the manly garment it is, not some wierd styling for the opposite gender.

And what exactly is boy cut anyway? Is it more room in the crotch? Would a woman want/need that?

I remember boy cut jeans being the trend back in the early seventies when I was in college...woman who was a very good friend of mine loved them as she said that they were the only ones that fit her properly (she was quite skinny). What the actual difference is I have no idea....guess that they sold everybody every other style of jeans and this was all that they could think of to sell them something that they didn't have already.

At least they got Kristin Chenoweth to do the commercials...

Trousers cut for women tend to taper (narrow) at the waist rather than being the same width from waist to hips as men's trousers are.

Some women have narrow hips and tapered trousers don't fit them well, but men's trousers do.

I guess its only fair. One trend I've noticed the past few years among the young new "goth" and "punk" kids is that the boys are wearing girls pants. Super tight hip huggers with the girl style pockets.
Never could quite figure out why they wanted to show off their pipe cleaner legs.

Well, and some of us don't have the waist we used to, either.

Boy cut is slightly larger in the crotch, a higher 'rise' (the area from crotch to waistband) and tends to be a straighter leg.
