New Kilter in NJ
I am encouraged by the support of these boards, it's great to be a newbie and seeing the feedback.
I got a kilt (AmeriKilt) at the Celtic Classic in Bethlehem PA, and I have worn it regularly since. (After work, weekends, etc.) My wife got it for me, and thought I'd wear it for Ren fairs, Celtic Classic, etc. but I can't see wasting it as a "Costume".
She's getting used to it, and so are some of the people in my community! I get strange looks at the Walmart, Grocery store, oh well, I don't mind.

Welcome aboard. Don't be discouraged by the "strange looks". I've been kilted for 20 years and still get them, even from people who have seen me kilted before. I'll bet your next one is a traditional!

Welcome to the board. I love my AK and am expecting my second one to arrive Friday.
I know in my little corner of the Garden State I get some nice reactions to the kilt but mostly it's a non-issue.

You're FAR from alone in this area when it comes to kilts. In fact, I dare say that it's more regular in the tri-state area than anywhere else in the USA (with the possible exception of Seattle). There's plenty of opportunity to wear them around here with all the Irish and Scottish pubs and events. Being that AmeriKilts are from right here in the Philly area, you'll see plenty of them around.
Welcome to the board!

This board has a solid base of experienced and savvy contributors and yet is small enough to maintain a good dialogue without getting lost in a deluge of posts.

Our Wal*Marts tend to attract such a interesting spectrum of customers that I tend to get very little notice there. I just assumed that all Wal*Marts were the same.

Mark,
I too want to send you some greetings and a great big WELCOME! Indeed this board is a great source of information, and to top it off a good laugh from time to time.
