    SWK Nightstalker or Black Stewart?

My wife received an unexpected little holiday bonus yesterday, and bless her heart, gave me $200 of it to go have fun and spend on myself.

I know that SWK is having an end-of-year sale, so I checked out what is left and ordered one of the last 2005 SWK plain black (black on black tartan) heavy weight kilts. Came to $99 with shipping. Hopefully the jonesing will be short lived based on all of the positive comments here on SWK's shipping policies and times.

I also saw that the prices on the 'Standards' were pretty good, and even better over on eBay, and am considering buying a SWK Standard in either Black Stewart or Nightstalker. Was wondering if anyone had either of these from SWK and if so, do you have any comments on either choice. He has them listed on eBay starting at $50, and on the web site for $60.

    Thanks in advance....

    Brian,

I own two SWK standards - a Black Stewart and the Nightstalker. The Nightstalker is probably easier to match shirts and hose to, but I get more compliments on the Black Stewart. I don't envy your choice.

Hey, if you can throw in an additional $20, buy both!! Best answer.

    Decision decisions

Don't you just love a little "mad money?" :-D

I picked up SWK's Black Stewart Standard around two months ago. Very happy with it. That was my first purchase from them and I was comfortable doing so because of the good feedback here on the forums. FYI: it seems that if you place your order (non eBay of course) early enough they can often ship the same day by USPS Priority Mail.

I was pleased with the price, quality and service the first time so I just picked up their Royal Stewart standard, a Buzz Kidder 'Inverness' sporran and some flashes (too busy these days to tackle those). Same great service, etc.

Their Standard kilts are a very good deal and since I'm slowly dropping in waist size I don't get huge amounts of angst with the purchase. My Douglas tartan tanks will have to wait until my waist stabilizes since they'll be pricy -- unless SWK ventures into one of those tartans too (hint hint) ;-)

BTW I wear solid-colored shirts with my kilts and the variety of colors in the Stewart tartans provide many pairing options.

Mowgli is right -- you can always kick in the extra bucks and buy both! But if it's one or the other: Black Stewart. It's a little subdued but has life to it thanks to the range of colors.

    Happy buying.

Brother Carbomb has said it well in other threads. When one kiltmaker has something you cannot get from any other kiltmaker, why buy the thing you can get anywhere else. You can't get the Nightstalker tartan from any other supplier. If you think it might be a while before you can get another kilt, I'd go with the Nightstalker. The only thing that would stop me is that it is acrylic.

All that being said, if your a size 38 waist...get the Stewart... since it looks like Jerry only has one 38" Nightstalker left.

Last night I ordered a Nightstalker kilt through them. I had the same dilema between the two. My wife liked the Nightstalker better, besides they're the only place to get that tartan.

    Are Stillwater kilts machine washable?

Are Stillwater kilts machine washable? Some of the acrylic kilts specifically say machine wash, hang dry. Other Stillwater acrylic kilts don't.

    Is there a differance?

Ordered on Dec 1st, Thursday evening via paypal, and was here waiting for me when I got home from work today (Mon Dec 5th). Was so busy this weekend that I never had the chance to develope a real jones .... Excellent!!!!

I must say that I am very impressed with the kilt as well as the shadow tartan. The quality of the kilt is outstanding for only $99, and I am very pleased with my purchase. Thanks Jerry!

I ordered my Nightstalker kilt last friday. I'm in Canada, so it'll be a while. Hopefully it won't be a long wait, I'm jonesing really bad.
