    Hello from the O.C.

Greetings from Orange County, home of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim near Santa Ana close to Newport byotch north of Sandy Eggo. We have a hockey team as well (DUCK !)
I previously owned a Sportkilt but have sold it, my pride and joy is my traditional family Taylor kilt by the Tartan Patch, a Utilikilt, and a British Columbia tartan by that guy in Vancouver that doesn't answer his e-mail or his phone (and was to have two California tartan kilts ready for me last month).
I'd like to get a couple Pittsburgh kilts but alas no answer there either so here's my question: Are there any good kilt makers ?

    Thanks,
    CT

Jeff at Pittsburgh Kilts is on hiatus right now working on a programming contract. He'll be back.

    CT, first Welcome!

There are many good North American kiltmakers. To let you know, Jeff (owner and maker) of Pittsburgh Kilts, has taken on a contract programming position and is not taking anymore kilt orders at this time. Not sure who you are referring to in Vancouver, but many think well of Bearkilts. I don't have one of his myself, but he is on my list. I do have a USAK made by Rocky and Kelly in Philadelphia and I love it. I have their semi-traditional kilt. Robert at Rkilts is also well respected.

So, you have a good choice from just those three for traditional type kilts, and then you have Amerikilts, Utilikilts, and others. What are you looking for?

Hey Cam, welcome to the board.

There are plenty of good kiltmakers out there, and many that are beyond affordable. For about the same price of that SportKilt, you could have had a Stillwater Kilt... which is MUCH more traditional looking. You won't break the bank, and you'll enjoy the thing for a long time.

There are other kiltmakers out there too. Matt Newsome, right here on this board, will make you a wonderful "box pleated" kilt along with other styles too. I, myself, am back making the occasional kilt (time permitting from other businesses) when I'm able. In fact, I just re-outfitted a rather rugged California band this last week with new custom kilts for 2006.

You can ask Ron about Kathy's Kilts in Arizona too. Let us know what you're looking for specifically, and I know that we can help you in no time. You can always ask Barb T. about her time and pricing. If you're looking for one of the best... she's your source.

Welcome to the board, you are experiencing the wonderful world of kilt popularity. You have been given some mighty sage wisdom as far as kilts, the jones is deep within you.
