Surprising Kilt-Related Issue with my spouse

Hi there, I was talking with my spouse (Nopadon) tonight about what I wanted for Christmas. He never can figure out what to get me so he always just asks me and then buys it.

Well, I've been thinking about getting a Khaki Casual Kilt from Freedom Kilts and I suggested that. It was like I'd run into a brick wall. He wouldn't hear of it. He loves me in kilts, and thinks I look studly (you gotta love the permanent beer goggles that love creates) in a kilt. But he thinks a kilt can only be tartan and worn in the traditional manner, which is why I'm also not allowed to wear a kilt with boots. :x

I've been informed that if I want a new kilt it's going to be a tank or nothing at all.

So this is my quandary. Do I try to press the issue and get the one I'm jonesing for, or do I take the offer to buy another incredibly expensive tank and run with it? My tanks have come from Hector Russel so they are about 4 times the cost of a Freedom Kilt.

As I write this I'm feeling rather stupid. A part of me is saying "GET ANOTHER TANK YOU FOOL!" But then I'm also thinking, "But I wanted a khaki kilt for a more casual look."

    What would you guys do?

I'd take the tank as a gift, and buy myself the "less casual" one. You can always argue that it's significantly less expensive than what was spent on the gift.

Gotta keep the wife happy. After all, if she ain't happy ain't nobody gonna be happy. You'll just HAVE to take the tank.

I agree that if he likes you in a tartan kilt, and wants to buy you one, then take him up on it! Buy yourself the casual kilt, since you want that one. Like Bubba says, if he thinks you look studly in a tartan kilt, you can't lose by letting him buy you one!

As for "being allowed" to wear a kilt with boots, we obviously see who wears the pants in your family! ;) But you're the one who dresses yourself every morning. Wear boots if you want to, you can't please everyone all the time, but you can least be comfortable if you want to be.

The boots thing is more for when we go out. Around the house I'm using in my slippers. Man, it's a nasty sight. Kilt, hose, flashes, and slippers!

Hmmm ... I bet he's already gotten you the tank, and that's why he "won't hear of" anything else.

Have a merry Christmas, wear your new tank on New Year's Eve, and order your Freedom Kilt in January. Everyone's a winner.

Unless this will lead to domestic unrest, I'd jump at the new tank, then wait untill January and order the Freedom kilt!

Bryan...I don't think Hamish would disagree when I say that you can't have too many kilts...

Go with the "tank" and then get the Freedom Kilt, as others have said earlier, we never can have too many kilts. And be grateful that you do have the support from the one you love.
