Off on a Kilt Buying Manic Run!

Wow! What just happened?? ??:

Well, yes, I've been talking with Kathy Lare of Kathy's Kilts for nearly a year on getting a hand sewn traditional in Cameron Red and Black. So made the down payment today so she can order up the cloth. Was my three-great grandmother Catherine Cameron who brought the family from Staffin, Skye to Skye Glen, Nova Scotia during the clearances 150 years ago and I've ALWAYS found the Clan Cameron tent the most hospitable at highland games...right down to the oatmeal cookies. As a bonus, the local high school's colors are red and black so the kilt can do double duty on game nights.

Then someone was asking about Celtic Croft so I wandered over to their website. They just happened to have a weathered Gordon hand sewn on clearance. Sewn up in the wrong size. Turns out the wrong size for someone else is my size! My Gordon line is strong too. My great great grandmother Nelly Gordon crossed the Bozeman Trail in 1866 to Virginia City, Montana. But I've never really liked the Gordon tartans available...but this weathered Gordon is sharp looking. With immediate delivery and a $200 savings for a hand sewn kilt pre-tailored to my size from a reputable dealer HOW COULD I SAY NO!?

Then, tracking Rocky's thread about the Ireland's National fabric coming in I made the mistake of asking if he had any left after filling the preorders. He did. Must have been in some sort of kilt buying fog but I found myself on the phone talking to Rocky, ordering a semi-traditional in the Ireland's National fabric...plenty of lead time for St. Patty's day.....YIKES! I just ordered three kilts in less than an hour. SEND ME TO TREATMENT FOR KILT ADDICTION!!!

Haven't counted up my kilts in a while...actually lost track...took a quick inventory...these will be kilts #31, 32, and 33.....and TEN of them are now tartan kilts.

Apologies to those of you with family and limited kilt funds. I'm an old guy making a good income and living in a bachelor cave so I do have the funds....and the addiction....

Great sitting here trying to figure out how to convince the VP of finances on the kilt coat and there you are ordering more kilts.

I hear you, Ron. I've ordered a SportKilt Royal Stewart, a Stillwater Black Heavyweight, a Stillwater 2006 Nightstalker Standard, and a Country Sporran from the Scottish Tartans Museum all in the last two weeks. Last night I had my first dream kilted.

I've just been wearing kilts since August and my kilt count is 13. Now I'm thinking about 13 possibly being an unlucky number, and looking at the casual kilt tartan's at Rocky's site.

I was already referred to Dr. Freud (who looked great in his Stillwater Black Stewart), and he said there is no cure for the addiction. He recommends never again going bifucated - it will lead to another kilt buying spree. He said 3/4 turns to check out your pleats in the mirror is totally normal though :-D

You do have a good case of kilt addiction.

Think the difference between kilt addiction and alcoholism is that in AA we help each other stay sober. In kilt addiction we help each other shop for more kilts!

Guess if we're gonna have an addiction it might as well be a fun one that doesn't affect our internal organs ;-)

Ah, to have your problem Ron. ;-) I've got a kilt and a jacket on order, but I'm having to restrain myself from ordering anything more until the credit cards get paid down.
