On a light note
There is not the slightest breeze here this afternoon so I'm going off on a Cilted adventure with my plane. Will let you know how I get on.

Please do write up a report. I haven't tried to combine kilting and flying as yet. At least in this pic. I've teamed up kilt hose with a wide pair of golf shorts to fly into Castle Kennedy, where my late father was based with the RAF during the second half of world war 2 (he was with 36SFTS at Penhold, Alberta during the first half). Please bear in mind that although I live in Scotland and have flown into a Scottish destination, I have had to drive across the border to collect the syndicate 'plane at Carlisle Airport so you will understand my reticence about the kilt.

My kilted friend is also fanatic flyer. (and skydiver like me) And he probably is the best flyer in Finland. He flies target planes for the Defence Forces for his living. I tried to convince him to compete but he said he wont get anything out of it :P Been flying for his entire life.
But I was just wondering is it the same affiction to freedom that gets us into aviation of any kind?

The explanation, Sherry, being that on the day the photo got taken I set off from home in Hawick, Scotland, drove 45 miles to Carlisle Airport, collected the plane and then flew to Castle Kennedy in south-west Scotland. Although I sometimes wear the kilt here in Scotland I'm not brave enough to wear it on my forays south of the border yet.

I know what you mean. If your wear your kilt south of the border, something dreadful will hapen to you.
No one will take much notice of you.
I said it would be dreadful.;)

Thanks for your encouragement, Hamish, Rob and Sherry. I suppose I do have a precedent for kilt wearing in England as my black watch does get its outing to the Great North Run. Tied up at the waist a bit shorter than usual and with sporran out to the side to give freedom for jogging, and teamed with a running vest it's part of my costume for the event and what very few comments I have had have all been complementary. This on a day when there are around 40,000 other people in fancy dress in Newcastle, but I've always felt it would stand out too much on a normal day.
