Burns Dinner music

Some of you know that I am going to try and organize a Burns dinner in Baghdad this month. My friend Ian, an SAS operator from Scotland, said he would organize the music. Well, today he said he would not be able to get anything. Can someone recommend to me, a CD that would be appropriate for a Burns Dinner? I will need at least one song to "pipe in the Haggis" and I am really not sure what other tunes or songs to play at a Burns dinner. Advice is highly sought. If I can get some recommendations of CDs by this weekend, I should be able to order them on line, and maybe, just maybe get them here in time.

"A Man's a Man for a' that" or "Scots Wha Hae" would be my recommendations for pipe tunes to pipe the Haggis in. Both are relatively easy to find on various pipe band CD's.

As far as other music for a Burns Supper, a good friend of mine, Alex Sutherland, is a Scottish singer and will be performing tomorrow night at our Burns Supper. I would be happy to speak to him for you about ordering one of his CD's:

I don't know what kind of access you have to download music but if you have an email address that could receive the large files I'd be willing to put them into an mp3 format which could be played on most cd players if you have access to a cd burner or even and mp3 player.

Just let me know which tunes you want and I'll try an round them up.

True, but it's nae Burns! :mrgreen: That's why I like "A Man's a Man" -- it sounds very guid on the pipes!

Technically, the Haggis should be fiddled in, since Burns was a Lowlander from Ayr...but I like the pipes too much not to have them! ;)

Have you tried to look for a local piper? When I was channel surfing a couple of months ago, there was a Iraqi piper in a news clip on CNN. It may be nice to introduce the burns night tradition to the local.
