Scots Wha' Hae - Dougie MacLean

I've just found a very nice rendition of Scots Wha' Hae by Dougie MacLean. It uses a guitar instead of pipes and is quite a moving piece. I know I am usually stirred so much by the sound of the pipes that I loose the words to the tune but this version really allows you to take the words in.

i d like to hear that,Ive modded several pipe tunes to the guitar with mixed results, some great tunes that use both are "top deck in perth" and "Hellbound train" by the amazing Victoria police pipe band -these guys can pipe !!!
In most pipeing circles Scots Wha' Hae is refered to as "Bruces address".

Dougie's one of my favorites. What CD was that on?

If anyone is in to good ole fashion Canadian punk the Real MacKenzies do a very cool punked out verson of Scots Wha' Hae.
Yet Dougie is a very fine musician

I've seen him four times here in Oregon, last time he was sick with the flu but played anyway. He had to stop several times to take some Scottish "medicine". ;-)

I've got a compilation CD called Celtic Tides that has two of Dougie's tunes, "Feel so Near" and "Caledonia" that kinda get to me. There is another song called "E Horo" by Mary Lamond that'll tug at your heart, too.

Bryan...so I'm sensitive: wanna make something of it?... ;-)
