    Gift for a Lady

A very, VERY dear friend has decided she wants to go with me on my upcoming cruise and I want to get her something to wear so she can coordinate with my formal kilt outfit. I'm not going to go so far as to get her a dress, but I was thinking to get her a wrap in a tartan to match my kilt. She has a black gown to wear on formal night, so I don't have to worry about colors matching.

    You know, something like this:

Do you think that would be appropriate, especially you ladies on the board?

My wife has made some wraps (not tartan), but I know that those ladies that she made them for, love them. It's a great gift, and quite versatile in both how to wear, but comfort.

I think it is a good idea and a nice gesture. It will look great next to your formal gear.

Anyone else remember the days of trying to co-ordinate your tie to your wife's outfit? Now we try to get them to co-ordinate to our tartan Things are getting right with the world

As well as the wrap you might consider some sort of fastening - a clasp, pin or broach so the fabric could be folded and held a little more elegantly than the granny triangle as shown.

If you are going to be all togged up I think something of the sort would make things more even.

Maybe someone has seen something apt on a website?

Another idea is a tartan sash with a rosette to wear on the shoulder. My wife makes a lot of them for people. It may be a little more formal than a wrap. The wrap sometimes is inconvenient to hold on to and may get left draped over a chairback. The sash won't be taken off during the evening. A nice broach holds it in place.
