    Big day with the pipes!

Just had to share...made a big step with my bagpipe lessons today. My instructor likes to give her students a goose after they've memorized 2 songs and can play them cleanly (not perfect, put clean). Well, today I got a goose! What a difference. Gonna take some getting used to...figuring out the pressure and breathing.

There are so many ways to take that out of context ... but I'll leave that for someone else.

Congratulations. One of these days I hope to be goosed myself.
See what I mean? It sounds right when you type it, but ...

That's a big step. I remember when I went on the goose ... realized that it was going to be a lot different than just the PC. ;)

Keep up the good work - you'll be on the full pipes in practically no time!

okay I will step forward and be the one to ask the obvious question; What the H*&^ do you mean by "give her students the goose". my mind went plummeting to the deepest pits of depravity on that one & I am certain a distinguished gentleman such as yourself did not intend anything of that nature by making that statememt

GOOSE ~ a bagpipe, usually a Great Highland, equipped with only a chanter and no drone (or with the drones plugged), intended to allow beginning players to practice and develop their ability without having to deal with too much at once

I've certainly learnt something today. I keep "threatening" my wife and children that I am going to learn to play the pipes. Probably never get round to it as I haven't a musical note in my body.
