Trying to identify

A question for the wise Xmarks masses:

Throughout the various picture galleries on the web, I occasionally see a kilt that I have not heard of or know anything about. I recently found a good picture of this kilt on the UK website. Here's a cropped version of the image:


Well, the black one on the left is obviously a UK. What is the green one on the right? Who makes those? And do the pleats really go all the way around? Also it looks like it has a standard trouser fly, is that what I am seeing?

I am not interested in getting one (not in the least). I am just curious.

It looks like a fairly standard green denim womans skirt to me. It is deffinately not something that I would consider a kilt, or consider wearing.

I belive that's one of the first UK's. They had fly's (zippers) in the front instead of the "apron" they have now.

It looks like one of the early models of UK's. I think I have seen something like that in Hamish's album. Correct me if Im wrong Hamish.

That is indeed one of the early "Standard" or "Original" Utilikilts, the ones some people refer to now as original were called "Neo-traditional". The paper catalog advertised that the advantage of this kilt was that it didn't require a belt and was considered "more efficient". I don't believe the "Standard" or "Original" is currently available from Utilikilt.

Nope they no longer make UKs with zippers. I asked when I ordered my tan corduroy one last week.
