Ok, I knew it was not going to be easy getting an iraqi seamstress to understand the concept of the kilt, but was I way off on just how bad it would be. Even with Barbs book and two translators the end result was no where near a kilt. The pattern that she found was an ok plaid. but the material, although she swears is wool, feels like a polyester. Instead of a heavy weight material, it is almost see through. The length....the length went to below my calf and the buckles were made out of a plastic circle of rhinstones. This calls for some pretty crude jokes but at the risk of offending any of my friends here at x marks, i will refrain from such. The pleats, my goodness, the pleates were six inches wide. I had to use the ruler as I never realized six inches was so long. (thats a guy joke). I did not take photos today, as my camera was in my tactical gear in the vehicle. This "Kilt" was nothing more then a ladies skirt and not even a well made skirt. I may have a half day tomorrow, so I am hoping to get fitted again. This time I will use the tranlsator from the intelligence division and not just a couple of Iraqi's that learned some english selling pirated DVD's on the street to American soldiers. And of course I will add some photos.
