    Caught in the act ...

Was caught in the act here of drinking yet another nice beer. This time from an Edinburgh Brewery.

Do you get a whisky taste from the oak aging of that beer?

    J. W. Lees has a line of Harvest Ales, each of which is aged in a different type of barrel - port, sherry, Calvados, and Lagavulin (perhaps others, but those are the four I've had). Each is distinctly flavoured by its oak, and let me tell you, the Lagavulin ale is incredible!

The Skull Splitter is a good, malty Scotch ale.

The Dominion Brewery in Virginia had an Oak Barrel Stout that was casked in old whiskey barrels. It had a very unique flavor. I don't know if they still have it or not, and even a few years ago it was only sold on premises.

My motto when I go to a game is "win or loose Ill have some booze". Trouble is I don't mind losing to the Irish or Scots but to lose to the English! (No offence to any English members)
