    Hamilton Red

Help! I spotted some Hamilton Red tartan on e-bay and pressed the button without thinking too much! I'm not sure on the pleat sizes needed to sew to the sett. There are 5 yds of double width - which should manage a casual style shouldn't it ?

Seems similar to the Cameron Red and Black I have on order from Kathy's Kilts (waiting on the mill).

No clue how she's gonna pleat it though, just trust her to give the best look. The Cameron Red and Black doesn't have the white in it that the Hamilton does...

Sorry to take up so much to tell you I don't have a clue. :-?

But, from the look of the tartan, cause its a lot like the Cameron Red and Black, I know its gonna be beautiful when you get it done.

    Hi Phil

You only need 4 yards of double width for a full trad kilt (4 yds double width makes an 8 yd kilt), so you'll have some left over for a plaid, if you want one.

The size of the pleats will be governed by the size of the sett, and you won't know what the sett size is be until you get it and measure it. Any idea what the weight of the tartan is?

    Cheers,

    Barb

See, can't even engage brain at the same time as typing. I meant to say 5 yds in total as there are 2 1/2 yds double width. Doh!:-?
