    Hell-o all,

Just curious after reading many recent posts about weight loss (good for you), how we interact with those poor unfortunate people who do not don the Kilt, is our lifestyle now connected to the Kilt?

I need to lose weight - currently 13 stone 5 pounds and with a pot belly. I have an entry for this year's Great North Run on October 1st which is over half marathon distance. I used to be athletic and run the whole way but nowadays I do it as a kilted walk so will be getting plenty of walking exercise between now and then. I don't smoke and I stopped drinking alcohol over a year ago. I do find wearing a kilt is a good incentive for more exercise; in bad weather I go out trousered and drive from door to door, while on a finer day I would go out kilted, then park the car and walk between shops, post office, library etc.

I'm 5'9" amd about 225, down from 237. I need to lose more because of arthritic knees. I just hope that if I do, I can afford to have my kilts altered.

My wife may be starting a work from home program soon. If she does that, she can drop off and pick up the kids and I can start walking the 4 km to and from work again.

I'm also 5'9, and I hover between 160 and 165 lbs. I'm quite happy at that weight. It took me long enough to get there...I weighed 120 lbs from the time I finished high school until about 7 years ago. I was WAAAAAAAAAY too skinny. Thank goodness I married a woman who knows how to cook.

    Glen,

I think your on to something. A healthy lifestyle of which a kilt can be a catalyst for introspection.

I always wonder about those height-weight charts at the doctor's office. I'm 5'8" and one of my previous doctors kept trying to get me to slim down to 135 lbs. The lightest I've ever been once I reached full maturity is 148 lbs and I was skinny. I looked my best at 155 lbs when I had a body fat % in the single digits and a decent amount of muscle on me. I'd look anorexic if I ever got down to the weight they suggest.
