    Music for the day...

Thought I'd try something completely different today. One of the fellows on another board does something similar and it generates some interest, so I thought I'd try it here.

I have a 6-disc CD changer in my Ford Explorer. Every time I reload it with new CD's I'll post the artists and titles here in the off topic section. If I load up some of my home-burnt CD's I'll post the tracks as well.Might give you guys (and gals) some insight into the types of music I like.

I'll start with today's selection. These will change every week or so as I go through all 6 discs.

The Irish Rovers - Silver Anniversary
The Duke Ellington Orchestra - Digital Duke
Willie Dixon - The Chess Recordings & More
Chick Corea Quartet - Time Warp
The Best of the Chicago Blues - Various Artists
Cab Calloway - Are you Hep To The Jive

What would make you want to share your lame music tastes with everyone?

Just kidding. I definitely dig the Irish Rovers.

However, since I don't have that old-fashioned CD technology, I can't participate. And I dare not list what's on my 30GB iPod.... This page would never load!

Ahhhh...Grasshopper...just wait!! My tastes range from Patsy Cline to Frank Zappa. Sometimes my grouping of six discs will totally baffle the mind.

I know what ya mean... mine goes the range of the alphabet, from ABBA to ZZ Top. Chopin. Johnny Cash. Heino. Garmarna. Leftover Salmon. Richard Cheese & Lounge Against the Machine.

The Duke and Cab are two hep cats.

I haven't heard the others, but they sound good.

Had a buddy once who was looking at my music collection and noted "Kiss... next to Kitaro. Poobah, you are one eclectic m*****f*****!"

I think it was a compliment.

    Today it's is follows:

Warren Zevon - Excitable Boy (rarely leaves the current stack)
The Battlefield Band - Celtic Hotel (without doubt their best disc, bar none)
Nickel Creek - Why Should The Fire Die (a young band, but maturing fast)
Jace Everett - Jace Everett (some pretty cool alt.country stuff here)
Rough Guide Series - Rough Guide to Celtic Music
The Chieftains - Boil the Breakfast Early
    The tradition continues!

Everybody should have Zevon in fairly heavy rotation. I've got Transverse City in the car, the Wind in the bedroom CD player, I'll sleep When I'm Dead (anthology) in the computer's CD tray, and Life'll Kill Ya downstairs in the Stereo.

Not to sound too into Zevon, I've got:
    (In the car)
    King's X -Groove Machine
Knocknagle - Three Toed Lemur (Intrumental Bagpipe rock)
Gin Blossems - What ever their first album was
    Jethro Tull - Rock Island
    Candy Says - Candy Says

    (On the computer)
    Tom Waits - Used Songs

    (in bedroom CD player)
Flogging Molly - forget which one

    (Downstairs)
    Blues Traveler - Four
    Killers
Béla Fleck & Edgar Meyer - Music for two

After a crappy day, I always feel better after singing along with "Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner."
