Never trust a man in pants...
Greetings all & Happy St Patricks DAy.
Lats night one of my vendors was having thier annual pre-St PAtricks Day party, with the requiste irish theme... i had been dared by our rep for that vendor that if i wore a kilt to the party he woudl give me an office chair... never one to turn down such an easy bet it took the challenge as shown below...

this is the black watch kilt i references in my "I'm gonna have a busy weekend..." thread a while back.
Turned out pretty good if i do say so myself - not nearly Barb/Matt/Rocky quality but not bad...
ANYWAY the rat b(*)&*d that I had made the bet with 'conveniently' forgot that we had ever had the conversation!!! BUT was duly impressed that i was brave enough to show up at the party so attired!
Got plenty of compliments - more than a few odd looks, had to answer THE QUESTION time & time again; fended off a couple of uplift attempts (including one by a guy who makes Rigged look tiny (I will post his pic later); Best part was the number of NEW CONTACTS i made, which had my boss slack-jawed at the number of folks I spoke to. (Actually he was slacked jawed from the minute he saw me as I had been regularly attired all day at work & switched to the kilt just before the party.)
WAs a fun event on the whole and could be the start of a whole new office casual look for my office ... NOT!!!
Cheers!!!
P.S. Special shout out to 646guy for lending me his lovely faux goat-skin sporran. Without that i woudl have felt very EXPOSED and might have bailed on the entire thing!!! that lovely spotrran sure got its fair share of stroking which initiated a whole new level of conversations that i will spare you, at this time
now to sneak out to head to teh St Patricks day parade..... more on that later!!!
ITS A KILT, G** D*** IT!

Great picture and bully for you for making the party in style! I think that it doesn't matter what tartan or type so much as the attitude of the wearer to pull off wearing a kilt. You wore it well and were the hit of the party I'm sure.

Great look!
Thanks for sharing the photo. (I wish more would, so we could begin to get to know each other in a more visual way.) You look great and I'm sure the "statement" you made will make the next time easier.
Now, get ready for "Wear a Kilt to Work Day" (April 6th).

Onion, You look great lad. I am sure the boss was not only surprised but very pleased with the kilt. You look as if you were having a great time and I am sure a lot of people learned about the kilt. You wear it well

Why not go and hoist your kilt and sit on his chair?

That outfit looks well put together, and you look comfortable and confident in it-nicely done!
Bryan...it appears we have another fine ambassador for kilts...

Get that chair! Point out what bad karma it is for someone to welch on a bet with a man in a kilt.
Lookin' good...you may get some flack from the cogniscenti over the length of the jacket...but that points out a sort of a void in the semi-non-trad-contemporary world of kilt jackets: how about a nice navy blazer cut to kilt length? It definitely look sharp on you...if you're going to adapt the kilt to business wear, I'd think that the basic navy blazer would be de rigeur.
I'm sure that I'll be staying home tonight (ho-hum!), so have one for me while your out celebrating.
Best

Lookin' good - never mind the chair. You up held your end of the deal in style and took advantage of any excuse to to put on a kilt. Proud of you man!
Happy St. Patty's Day!

I think it's a fine look. Now maybe that weasel will remember that a kilted man is a man of his word...
