    Eton Jacket modification Status

I've been preparing for a wedding for a friend next month and the "PC" outfit is comming together. I'd probably look like a rag-a-muffin beside someone in the real deal but that's the beauty f being the only one dressed this way. Here's an update photo on the rig. No sporran or hose but from the knee up this is how it should look.

I was a little concerned that the length difference between a casual and a traditional would leave evidence of a white shirt peaking out from under the jacket but it looks like it will stay covered unless I start doing the "helicopter" or the "water sprinkler" on the dance floor .

I'll post better pics from the wedding next month.

    Cavscout,

It appears the bottom of the kilt is at about the middle of the knee. If you are concerned about the top of the kilt being too low, you could pull it up a little.

Is your kilt pin on the left side? It should be on the right side.

I thought the same thing at first, then I noticed the camera and realized it was a mirror image.

Looks good to me, Cavscout. Will you be adding buttons to the sleeves?

Thanks guys. I don't know about the cuff buttons yet. I'm not sure how it will look to have the buttons surface applied with no real "guantlett" cuff or "flap" to give reason for the buttons to be there. From a distance it would look fine but up close I wonder if people would wonder why the buttons are on the front of the sleeve. I haven't put the epauletts on yet either. I may wait on these last details and see what happens.

I put three pewter buttons along the BACK of the sleeve, where a sportcoat would have buttons, and didn't bother with epaulettes. I mean, when am I gonna wear a fly plaid?

I've been considering that as well Alan. You're happy with that look? I've got the buttons sitting there waiting, so I may just do that. There is a place in Loganville where you can buy a full tux for $50, so I had considered going and buying a tux or jacket and cutting it up to make a faux cuff...but that gets into a lot of time I don't have.

I agree the jacket looks pretty darn good without the eppauletts, so it's probably not worth the effort and $. Those who don't know any better won't care and those who do know better will know it is a modified Eton jacket

I'm just stoked that the casual kilt will work with it!
