    Recent pieces-Belt buckle and clasp

Here's a few pieces I've finished in the last while. The buckle is getting a bit worn now, it's my usual work horse. Nickel silver.

The following are pieces of a sporran clasp that's on the bench at the moment. It's about 800 parts per thou silver/copper. The process has been lots of fun but random and wild. Taking a leaf from the steel foundry book I've made wooden originals then cast into a sand and sump oil mix. Each has taken 2 or three casts to get right.

    and the cast-evolved a bit...

    and the hinging piece

I promise it'll become clearer when you see it all together! hopefully this eve.

What great craftsmanship! I especially like the buckle, as it goes well with whatever Kilt you are wearing, a perfect match.

Thanks Glen! That's a County Westmeath (All Things Tartan) tank tucked behind. Here's the next phase just polished not riveted. It's a male /female type slasp which will pass thru a silver lipped hole in the front flap of a sporran. More to come of course when finished.

that's ebony riveted onto the silver. And from a piano key no less! Excellent source of ebony for jewellers as it's now either rare and/or expensive.
