    Quaich

I arrived home yesterday to find a package from UPS waiting for me. I really enjoying getting these packages from Scottishkilts.net

This was the MacKenzie quaich and the replacement chain for my dress sporran (the one that came with it was too small).

Yesterday would have been my late Nana's 80th birthday (from the MacKenzie side), and it marked 2 weeks without a cigarette for me, so this was a really nice touch to the day.

Again, excellent service and communication from David and Gerry at Scottishkilts.net.

Here's the quaich I got, with the MacKenzie clan badge inside. It is a really beautiful quaich, and will be used often to welcome new and old friends and mark special occasions with my family.

Here's more information about the quaich in general:

Thanks P1M, I am just trying to decide if I should christen it with Dalwhinnie, Laphroaig, Highland Park, or the Dalmore. I think the Dalmore will be first, as it used to be owned by the MacKenzie clan, and still features part of their badge on the bottle.

I've always wanted to get one of these, but my wife tells me that her Italian relatives will not, under any circumstance, drink from the same cup as someone because of "germs" and one of the (IMHO) ridiculous supersitions her Sicilian relatives have.

I love the idea of the common welcoming cup!

What do they think about the common chalice at Mass then?

Colin: very well done indeed! A splendid way to extend the ancient right of hospitality to all who cross your threshhold.

    Slainte!
