The Ebay Eton jacket goes formal

This is my Eton jacket that I bought off of ebay for $40 if I remember rightly. Cavscout has one, too, I think, as well as a couple more X Markers.. ANY-way, my lady had some pewter buttons left over from Grandma's sewing chest so I pulled off the couple of satin buttons that were on the jacket and sewed on Grandma's. I bought two little packages of nice, smaller pewter celtic buttons off of ebay for $5 for a card of five, and put them on the cuffs.

A Web trip to www.uniformalwearhouse.com revealed the three button vest, and I bought a backless one for $39, spending wooo-hoooo four or five bucks more for a wool one than polyester. When it arrived I cut off the satin buttons on that, and replaced them with three of the nice pewter celtic ones.

I cannot possibly justify $250 for a Prince Charlie and vest, but $50 all-up for the jacket and $40 for the vest...total of about $90, I can handle. Whatever else I may be, I'm CHEAP....OK, OK...Frugal, then. The kilt is the Holyrood Modern from Caledonia Kilts that sells on ebay.

This is Yours Truly, about to jump in the car and head up to San Francisco to attend a Symphony concert.

    Hi Alan,

The jacket and vest look terrific and so does the kilt; I heartily applaud your thrifty approach. I was at the San Francisco Symphony a while back and both the orchestra and the venue are world class.

In theory there is no difference between theory and practice but in practice there is.

Very Nice Alan. You said the buttons on the cuff were placed where they would be on a standard cuff right (on the back)? Looks great! I can't wait to step out in mine next month.
