21st Century Ankle-Length Kilts
I've seen them on the site, and as I was flipping through the New York Social page link somebody posted on another thread, I saw a pic of a fellow wearing one of these ankle-lengthers...regular tux jacket, some sort of white shirt, and dress shoes...but no sporran. And I as I think about it, I don't think I've seen a sporran worn with an ankle-length at all.
So. Thoughts? IMHO, it would look less like a skirt and more kilt-ish if worn with a sporran, although admittedly they do look like very masculine skirts by themselves...like one of those German "man-skirts" or something...

All this time we've been worrying, top of the knee, middle of the knee, or bottom of the knee! Who knew it really didn't matter a jot?

The question might be better served at Tom's Café, not here.

If the folks at TFCK can do this and make a buck at it... more power to them. But I'm afraid these things are well outside the envelope of what I personally consider masculine attire. Perhaps I'm just to much of an old fuddy-duddy.

Not for me, but I see no problem with it.

Hamish, you are absolutely right, as usual. Very well put.
Even if these long kilts are not for you, they should be tolerated if worn by others.
One of my friends ( Hamish, it was Ian St.....ng) borrowed Howie's long grey kilt ( his prototype) to a ceilidh in Edinburgh and he loved it. He received many admiring glances - and he was over 60 years of age.
