    Unhappy Kilt returned to Lochcarron

The stitching of the left buckle strap of my Lochcarron Isle of Skye came loose after a few weeks.
I fixed it myself, but was of course not happy with this. A few weeks later the stitching of the belt loops also came loose...

    Time to complain...

I emailed LC and explained what happened...within an hour I received a reply.
They asked me to send the kilt back for inspection and repair.

The kilt is now on it's way to Scotland.

I'm not complaining about the quality of Lochcarron kilts in general...my Caledonia is also a LC kilt...well made and sturdy as can be.
I guess the actual kiltmaker had an off day when she attached the straps and belt loops.

I'll keep you informed about the progress and the way Lochcarron will solve this.

Not nice, but these things happen I guess

    YIKES.

I have 2 kilts made by Lochcarron and have not had any problems with them. I hope that it all gets straightened out to your satisfaction.

I have to say, having ordered kilts (for clients through the Scottish Tartans Museum gift shop, not me personally per se) from a variety of Scottish kilt supply companies, that Lochcarron is our hands down preferred source, as their kilts are not only of the highest quality of construction, but have also demonstrated a consistancy that you sometimes don't find from other sources.

(And I'm not being paid by Lochcarron to say that -- I'm just speaking from my personal experience, based on several years of ordering kilts from them.)

I trust this was just a fluke, and they will fix it swiftly for you. Are you dealing with their US office, or directly with Scotland?

Directly with Lochcarron Galashiels Mill Scotland...I live in the Netherlands.

I didn't even bother contacting the kiltshop...they didn't made the kilt, so I turned to Lochcarron straight away.

I'm really pleased with the quality of my Caledonia...part of the reason I ordered another LC kilt.
The Isle of Skye kilt itself is also very well made...just the "add ons" are not well attached...I agree with Matt...must be a rare fluke.

Lochcarron customer support took my complaint very serious and they're probably more upset about it as I am.

Every person (or company) will eventually make mistakes. It's how they deal with those mistakes that marks their true character.

I'm curious how this turns out and hope for the best.

Sounds like your kilt was made on a Friday evening or Monday morning.

Work-a-holic, in cyberspace, all caps is considered YELLING! It would also make your messages more understandable if you could use some punctuation. Thanks.
