East TN Scottish Heritage & Music Festical (Knoxville)

The wife and I will be in Knoxville this Saturday representing the Scottish Tartans Museum.

    http://www.shmfestival.org/

I'm slated to give two talks on Saturday, one on the history of tartan, the other on the history of the kilt.

    Come by and say hi!

    Matt

Unhappy How did I miss this?

I didn't even know this existed. If I had, I would have made arrangements to go. Is this a new event?
Matt, let us know how it went. If they schedule it again for next year, I'll make plans to attend.
    I can't believe I missed this......

Well, that one is close enough, but I have a daughters ball game and the Kentucky Derby. And yes, I will wear a kilt. (to the Derby party, not to coach highschool girls softball)

The Glengarry bhoys and Rathkeltair would be enough for me to go. It would be neat to meet up with M.A.C Newsome. If anyone goes let us know how it was. Of course it's too far for me but I would still love to hear about it

Unfortunately, too far for me and too little notice. Maybe next year, but I am really trying to get to Gatlinburg to see Matt's presentation there.

Yup, this is the first time for this event. I think one of the big things they will be doing there is pushing the Gatlinburg Games that are coming up in a couple of weeks. Knoxville's not that far from Gatlinburg, and they want to try and get more folks from Knoxville to be aware of and come out to the Games, from what I gather.

I'll let you know how it goes!

    Matt,
How did this go? Post some pics if you have any.

    Added later:

OK Matt, I just visited your blog (shoulda done that before posting). Very interesting. For those of you who want to see a very interesting kilt closure method, see Matt's blog. It's bound to be the talk of the forum.

I was at the festival. We had a wonderful time. Though there weren't a whole lot of people there, this *was* the inaugural event, so hopefully next year will be bigger. I have a few pictures that I can share:

Miranda and Graham from Glengarry Bhoys

    Preparing the caber

    Heavy athletics demo

I believe this is Heather Searson. I wasn't familiar with their music at the time, but their show was great.

    Another of Miranda Mulholland

Glengarry Bhoys. That's XMarks' own Phat Piper, Ewan Brown on the right, isn't it?

And a shot I messed with in Photochop
