Kilted golfing?

Golf season hasn't quite started yet in Northern Norway, so haven't been out on the course.

Do any of you (stupid question, I know) have experience golfing kilted? Is the kilt a practical garment for that purpose (minus the sporran, I suppose)?

Yes it's practical and comfortable...indeed...no sporran.

I was just golfing on Friday in my kilt. The sporran has to come off and sit in the cart but other than that it's fine. We have an annual outing with 40 people and at least 8-10 wear kilts to the course. Depending on the tartan most wear either solid black or white shoes with ankle high socks. The kilt didn't do anything to hinder my swing at all. The only problem is the constant sweeping when you get in or out of the cart. of course you wouldn't have that problem if you walked.

Enjoy it - it's very comfortable and won't interfere with your game.

I haven't played while kilted yet, actually haven't played much in the last few years. I can't imagine the comfort if the kilt, especially no wet trouser legs from the morning dew on grass. I do agree with others that taking off the sporran would be a good thing, but I wonder where one would carry an extra ball, tees and ball marker so they would be handy when needed.

If you wore the sporran strap outside of the belt loops would you be able to easily turn it around and wear it behind you when you swing? Just imagining it, haven't tried it seeing as there are no golf courses near me in Turkey.

I always walk...stand bag on my back and sometimes a cartbag...on a cart.
I only use a buggy when it's very hot...rather rare overhere.

Ball marker...I use the "button type" on my glove.
Tees and pitchfork...tugged in my hose.
Extra balls in my bag or clipped on my cart...always close by.

A small belt-pouch can be handy...wear it on your back.

A small group of us golf kilted each year usually to help raise money for a charity. I wear the sporran as well as the rest of the group. We've had no problems with the sporran. Golfing kilted is fun!

I think the sporrans came off but I'm not sure. I personally can't play with it but I also can't play with things like watches or rings either.

I prefer to walk and carry my bag, just feel closer to the game, unless the course is very hilly or required by the course. Not having a pocket to carry 'stuff' isn't a problem.

Gryphonaire and myself went to the driving range for the first time kilted last Friday morning (next time we'll hit the links). We solved the sporran problem the easy way...we both wore Utilikilts.
