Help! Need to clean a sweater / jumper!!

Didn't know quite which topic to put this under . . .

One night at dinner in a lovely Italian restaurant, I bumped my glass of chianti . . . it splashed on the off-white cotton sweater laying across my lap. It was on top of the kilt, but now my favorite sweater has red wine on it

Any suggestions on how to get the wine out?

Mix 1 part woolite, dishsoap or carpet shampoo to 1.5 parts hydrogen peroxide in a spray bottle and spray it on the stain. The stain will literally vanish. Then rinse in cold water.

The knowledge of this board knows no bounds! Let us know how that works mkmound. Not doubting you Bubba, I just don't have a sweater with wine stains at the moment, and the only wine I have in the house right now is white!

If that works then LET US KNOW. My answer would have been to just toss it out or use it to change the oil.

Bubba's solution sounds like a good possibility...just to add something from my experience: until you're sure that you've got any stain out, air dry the item and do not throw it in the dryer...the heat often sets stains.

Bubba, thanks!! I'll definitely try it tonight.

I knew that with the collective wisdom, someone would have a solution.
