    I gave in..

Oh no! I gave in to my urge to purchase more kilts rather than to save for my "Dream" kilt. Just ordered a Blk. Stewart from Jerry at Stillwater. Knowing how fast thier servise is,I could have it for this weekend. My wife and I get to attend the second wedding in two weeks. This one is a kilted Scottish wedding. I went to the other ( with the brides blessing ) kilted anyway. Do any of you suffer this affliction of choosing immediate satisfaction rather than waiting for THE kilt. Being newly introduced to the wearing of traditional kilts, I'm unsure of many of the quality issues between many of the kilt makers (even with the numerous postings here). It's much easier to shell out $90 rather than the $500, particularly when what is offered is my length, my waist, and the hips fit me like a glove. I want an 8yd 13oz.County Sligo (w-36/h-41/l-24) but to be honest, I need help to convince myself to wait and save, so I turn to my brethren.

Oh, go for it! Life is too short. I am still waiting on my first tank. And the closest I will get soon is my box pleated XMarks tartan from Matt, and I have 15 kilts since I started wearing them last September! For me it comes down to I can justify $80-100 every so often, but it is hard to pull the trigger on a $500 item all at once. And with the cheaper ones, I get variety over time as well.

Oh absolutely. I'm fixing to give in and get some immediate gratification of a less expensive kilt. I know I want to wait and save for a tank from Kathy... but I'm gonna impulse and get an Irish National semi from USAK. Yeah, still more than $80... but from they rave reviews, I HAVE to. Man, can't wait.

A wool 8-yarder is the least practical, most expensive Scottish-style kilt and is mainly for formal wear. I recommend buying a few less expensive general-purpose kilts for casual wear, which will see much more use than a formal kilt.
