How's our logo?
Ok! After a long thinking we decided to change our rugby team name into finnish and drop the "Highlanders" from the name. The club is now called "Rovaniemen Rugbyklubi". So, I made us a logo just today. Here is 2 versions of it. Tell me what you think.
With darker red
With brighter red
The picture in the logo is the famous "Jätkänkynttilä" bridge of Rovaniemi:

The overall concept is good - here's a few ideas to consider...
1. Consider a different type face for the "R" above the diagonal color bands to aid the readability.
2. Just a bit more "breathing space" between the diagonal color bands and the word "rugby" at the bottom may help readability if you ever need to print the logo in a small size.
3. Consider dropping out a chunk of the oval behind the "R" and "U" in rugby - most folks won't even know its missing - and again, it could aid the readability.
4. Like others, I prefer the brighter red.
I'm not a prefessional graphic designer - but I do play one on TV.

Why make the bridge red?... Shouldn't it be yellow?

The brighter red looks better to me.

Team Colors... we got White-red-grey-black shirts...
I made a tweaked version, but I think the "problems" pdcorlis mentioned won't affect the readability. Or maybe they will but everybody can surely read it if they want, It's the overall logo which catches the eye before reading it. And if it is easily recognisable logo, people will remember it. But as I said, tweaked it already
