    "Get Shirty" kilts

I have seen a range of casual kilts from http://www.getshirty.com at £38 +VAT. These seem to be good value for a casual kilt. Has anyone out there bought one or can give an opinion on these kilts.? What is the fabric, how well made are they, would you recommend, etc?

    thank chaps

NO NO NO !!!!!! Total waste of money. Only fit for football matches....VERY sweaty and uncomfortable. Don't even try to wash it...you'll NEVER get it back in any kind of shape.

They're made from some sort of poly viscose type material....poor quality. Mine went into the bin two years ago...

Having said that...Get Shirty do stock a great range of good quality stuff. I've bought many rugby shirts and a cotton Saltire jumper and they've all stood the test of time and washed well.
BUT as for those 'kilts'....stay clear.

    Hi P1M

They may well be popular...but the one I had from Get Shirty (and I assume that the quality of it was similar to the ones you mentioned) was poor....the material 'pilled' after a couple of wearings. The stiching was grim and the fabric was just soooo uncomfortable...made me sweat like f***.
As many of us have said you get what you pay for.

Get Shirty stock loads of really great (and good quality, value for money)things and I've always been pleased with anything I've bought there. (except that 'fake' kilt)

If any of the guys visit Edinburgh....do pay them a visit, it's a great wee shop.

This is the Saltire Jumper I bought from them a good few years ago (about £25)...WELL worth its money...been washed countless times and still looks new.

'Get Shirty' kilts? Absolutely no way! Several years ago, I sent for one. When it arrived it was several sizes too small. I sent it back having telephoned them. They sent me another - it was too large. Another 'phone call and back that one went. A third one was received which, again, was several sizes too small. Again I telephoned and demanded to speak with the Manager. Eventually she came on the line and, in voice and manner, sounded to be about 12 years old! I said I was returning the 'kilt' and demanded a full refund, together will all the return postage and telephone costs. She told me that she was authorised only to refund the price of the kilt, and asked me to give them one more chance. She said she would personally despatch the kilt I had ordered. I reluctantly agreed but when it arrived, the labelled size was correct, but the kilt itself was obviously intended for someone half my size, one of the straps (a sort of processed cardboard) was hanging by a thread and the 'tartan fabric' was not even woven straight. It was ghastly.

The fabric itself was of the very poorest quality, but for £28 I hardly expected anything else - I thought it might have done to wear whilst car washing, etc. - but, to be honest, I would not have used that 'kilt' even as a car-washing cloth. I finally cut my losses by returning that garment and requesting the refund. It arrived several weeks later and, as I was told, consisted of nothing more than the original price of the kilt.

I would certainly NEVER buy another kilt from them and, because of that sorry experience, I would NEVER darken their doorstep ever again!

Get shirty deals for Pakistani companies. I met them at the trade show in Glasgow. PLEASE do NOT confuse the acrylic and wool blends that they use with Poly Viscose. They do NOT use Poly Viscose.

    Angry get shirty - not!

Many thanks chaps for warning me off these obviously unpleasant garments. I guess as always you get what you pay for. I do get a bit envious when my wife can buy a pleated plaid skirt for a few pounds though.

Ach wheel, I'll just have to save a few more baubies until I can afford a self respecting kilt. The thing is, I have several but just need a cheapie for gardening and housework.

Yes...but women's clothing...and shoes...are mostly of "disposable quality". That's fine "they" have closets filled with rubbish. Quantity...not quality.

I rather hear the drumbeat of quality (okey...I'm odd )

Please note that I am NOT confused.
I stated 'some sort of poly viscose type material....poor quality ' NOT that it was poly viscose.
I'm afraid that it is some considerable time since I disposed of the article I am now unable to say exactly what the material was...it may have been poly viscose, polyester, polyproylene, polyunsaturated or polly the parrot, but
the 'kilt' that I purchased, some few years ago had NO wool content.

I understand... I just wanted to make sure that MY product is not lumped into the same category with them and their material quality.
