An X Marks Dress Model FK

Today I finished my X Marks kilt. I made it exactly like a Freedom Kilts Dress Model. It has been an interesting learning experience -- wool is definitely different to work with than cotton and polyester/cotton. I have already identified ways to make the next one better. I was so excited to try it on I didn't even take the time to steam out the pleats from where the basting was.

Here is the kilt from the front.
Note the full waistband and beltloops -- they make the sporran hang perfectly. And also note my hand in the pocket.

    Here is the rear.
Please excuse the ripples in the pleats. They are from the basting stitches.

And a detail of the Side Slash Pockets.
This kilt has two Side pockets.

    I wear the kilt because:

I have to admit... this tartan looks great pleated to the stripe. Much better than I imagined. Very cool!

    Pleated to stripe! Very nice...different...

Pockets in a tartan kilt...any difference between the hillwalker? Never seen one of them, just know they have pockets.

I'm still baffled how folks do the math to sew up a kilt...much rather pay for the crafstmanship than smoke my besotted brain with the calculations.

    Very sharp look

Now that is sharp-looking. Of course, that just makes the jonesing all that much worse, for the dress model I have on order.

Who makes the XMarks tartan? Is it only available from select
    kiltmakers?

Steve, will the X Marks Dress Model be available as an option from FK?

Ron, I'm with you on that. I can barely add and subtract, and I usually need a calculator to do even that But seriously, I don't think I could ever make a kilt.

The X Marks Tartan was a special order for forum members. Designed by our own Matt Newsome and woven by Fraser & Kirkbright in Vancouver.

I'm very sorry but there is no more of this fabric left. We only ordered what people requested.

I would kinda like to try some Freedom Kilts Tartans but I want to talk to Rocky and Kelly first. I will not compete with friends.
