First Kilt!
So I just got my first kilt, a UK original in olive. The wife's first reaction was, "I didn't think they had so many pleats." I'm not sitting at work and got a few giggles, one "I hope you're wearing boxers" from my boss, and one of the high school volunteers won't go near me (I work in the video department at a good sized church). But all in all I think it went well... no one has said, gee you look stupid or anything like that...
Oh, and aside from reactions this is the most comfortable thing I have ever (EVER) put on my body. Holy cow, every guy should wear these things. I wore it out to a Rocky Horror Picture Show last night, sat around the house all day long in it today... wow... simply amazing.

Captain,
May I be the first to say Congratulations!
Enjoy your kilt.
One thing though, tuck your shirt in! It looks a LOT better.
Cheers

Yeah, being a big guy I'm not used to tucking in, but I think I tend to agree with you when it comes to the kilt...

Welcome to the Rabble, and congrats on your first kilt!
I'll second Panache and say that tucked in looks MUCH better.

Congrats on your new kilt. I'll have to add the third to having the shirt tucked in with a kilt. I am the guy who never, ever tucks in shirts but it really seems to look better with a kilt IMHO. None the less, you wear it well. Enjoy!

Holy cow is right. That's more or less what I thought when I tried my first kilt which was also a UK original. I have tried different types of kilts, but the UK is still my favorite, I don't know if it's because it was my first. I have a feeling I would like Union Kilts as well because the design is very similar.
One thing you really need to know about these Utilikilts that they don't mention on their web site but which I think I should tell you. Umm....well, they have this tendency to multiply in your closet. I started out like you around the 4th of July with one in my closet and now there are six hanging in there.
I don't know how in the world that happened.....

Yeah, most of us don't understand why everyone isnt' wearing these.
oh, as for the 12 steps program, most people wind up repeating it repeatedly...some with a fine single malt to help.

Yeah, I just got home from church (work). The most frequent question I got was "Why?". And when I tried to tell them how comfortable it was and how everyone should wear one their eyes just sort of glazed over. I only had one person ask what was on underneath and I told him that only the wife and myself know the answer to that question. Next person that asks gets "Socks and Shoes" for an answer.
Did get a couple of people who recognized it last night at the Rocky Horror Picture Show. It kind a went like this:
Teen #1 (to Teen #2): See man, you're not the only one that dressed up like a chick
Teen #2: Ummm... that's a kilt. Guys wear those.
Teen #3: Heck yeah, that's a Utilikilt! Those things are awesome!
