That is one cool tartan! I do agree that the brown would just look great with it. Enjoy your new kilt.

Nice tartan, great kilt. Nice shiny pelt, too. I'm envious.
The brown gear will also look good, but I think your black gear would work better for dress casual (as I see you dressed for these pictures) if you used hose that wasn't pure white (a bit too formal for the setting and shirt).
All in all, once your brown gear arrives, worn correctly, you'll have more choices for either dress, day wear casual or dress casual wear with that kilt. I guess you could also wear that kilt pure casual, but I think it would overwhelm.

That is a beautiful tartan Red,
Danged if I can get it related to Arizona though...I "know" brown deserts and green trees...but hey, Arizona to me is the flag colors...or more redrock colors.
Had visions, before opening the thread, of blue and copper and red and gold....
Gonna take a while to wrap my mind around that being an Arizona tartan...that its so sharp looking should help.
Maybe a copper belt buckle with the brown leather...
Or a rattlesnake skin sporran...

Retro,
What a gorgeous kilt and a fabulous tartan! More congratulations to Matt. The first thing that struck me was the excellent colour co-ordination between the tartan and your hair!
In spite of the comments from my brethren, I am going to turn away from my own guidelines in your case and say that I think the white hose works very well here - it picks up the thin white lines in the tartan nicely! Yes such hose can be too formal at times, but with that tartan (and your hair) it's fine.
I certainly agree that brown leather accessories present a more casual, 'day-time' appearance, but your tartan allows perfectly for brown or black. Black accessories (sporran, belt, footwear) highlight the black in the tartan and so it works for you here.
The images are a wee bit too small for me to see the box-pleating detail, but I love what I see. I am assuming that this kilt is rather more than a 4 yarder? 6 perhaps?
Very well chosen, my friend. Excellent!
[PS: Congratulations on a very near perfect 'Hamish Pose' too - one of the best I have seen!!]

I don't often comment on the pictures as most folks have already said what I'd planned on saying, but I have to in this case. That is one of the slickest tartans I've seen on this board, and the box pleating really brings it out magnificently.
Now, I'm REALLY jealous of you as I live in Ohio, and our state tartan is, frankly, pretty butt-ugly. I may have to move to Arizona just to partake in it!

Thanks, Hamish, for the kind & insightful feedback. Actually, I'm pleased to read the overall positive feedback on the tartan. Thanks, everyone. I'm no expert on tartans, but this one seems fairly unique to me. Anyone know of another tartan similar in appearance to the Arizona tartan?
As you & Yaish pointed out, shades of green & brown are friends of redheads. And thanks for the support on the hose (support hose? ). While I was mindful of the white stripe in the tartan, the main reason I wore those hose is that I only have 3 pair of kilt hose, at this time - the off-white, dark blue & black - so the off-white was simply the best option. In fact, the whole outfit was kind of make-do with what I have on hand. I was eager to share photos of this unique tartan with you Xmarkers, rather than waiting any longer until I had all the right accessories.
I would appreciate you folks' advice on kilt hose to go with this kilt. If I get tan kilt hose (do they make them in that color?), I think the flashes would blend in too much & get "lost." Would Lovat green hose work? Even with a brown or tan shirt?
.
Happiness? I'd settle for being less annoyed!!!

WOW... I like it. Another kilt option... Hmmm...
BTW: oatmeal might go well, too. As would lovat green, which would be close to the green in the tartan.
